II Corinthians 4:5-7
"For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, Who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us."
Lesson 10: GOD'S SIGNATURE
"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the LORD." Isaiah 55:8
"And the same day, when the even was come, He saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side." Mark 4:35
"Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them." Matthew 25:1-3
Good morning, friends; and truly a good morning it can be for you! It can even open up a new era of joy for you.
Today The Voice of Tomorrow declares with absolute finality: the Bible of the Christians is a book which has never been understood except in small parts. The Bible has been interpreted to suit the wishful thinking of whomsoever has undertaken to set it before the people. It is a Book of great and aweinspiring truths, which have been hidden in rites and ordinances; it is a Book of great and multitudinous prophecies wrought out by God Almighty through His Chosen People and their Prophets. It is a Book which deals with the very conditions of today in which you and I live, and it tells us with considerable detail the events which are to transpire tomorrow. As yet, people have never heard about these prophecies; our priests and ministers haven't as much as even dreamed about them – they have never been suspected to exist. The Bible has been treated as a storybook. Oh, to be sure, it is a storybook, that is, an account of real events which have taken place. Yes, indeed, it is a true account; but the trouble is that our priesthood, both ancient and modern, stopped right there! They imagined that was all there was to it. Hear The Voice of Tomorrow: God was well able to, and did, direct a master-play in living drama, wrought out by His people and those with whom they came in contact, in such a way as to reveal Himself completely, and to set before the people, when the right time arrived, an almost unlimited range of prophecy and revelations which almost stagger the human mind. For years I have labored to put into print a multitude of these revelations which have been received, so that whosoever truly seeks the truth and wants to come into understanding, being willing to receive the truth when the proof is presented, may now at long last see that which bygone princes of this world longed for and prayed for in vain. These are not mere claims of propaganda, but a simple statement of fact which can be proven and demonstrated.
Hear The Voice of Tomorrow: would a Thomas Edison, or an Albert Einstein, or a Dr. Keller write a book or even a thesis, and have it published without his name appended thereto? How unthinkable! No person of great understanding or worldwide repute would do such a thing; naturally, he would be sure that those who were to read and study would know for a certainty that it was the very genius of the Einstein or the Dr. Keller or whomsoever that had put it into print. Yet millions of God-fearing people have lived, have read the Bible or heard it preached, but have never seen the signature of God Almighty! They have never heard about it, they have never dreamed of it, they have never even suspected it; everything that they heard or read was merely accepted in faith, and because it was accepted in blind faith, unfortunately a great deal more was accepted in blind faith which did not have the signature of God Almighty behind it.
Perhaps that expression "the signature of God Almighty" carries a wrong impression to some of you, so it may need a little explaining. I do not mean that the signature of God has been written in our Bibles the way that a Tom, a Dick or a Harry may sign his name. For, clearly is it written that "the ways of God are not the ways of man" (Isa. 55:8). Therefore, we should not expect Him to put a certain name into the Bible in a certain handwriting – bold, strong, or otherwise. But God has a different way of signing His Name, and that in a manner which can literally make people sit back with a gasp! The manner of His insignia is precisely what I stated a moment ago: that through His wisdom and power and absolute direction of human affairs, He has staged masterplays, so to speak, which deal with the mysteries hidden down through the ages, and declare openly the things which are to be.
Does not an artist put more than color onto paper? May he not portray in a human face faith and patience, love and sacrifice, or maybe smoldering hatred? Or may not a great composer put more than notes onto the paper; can he not portray through those compositions almost every known phase of human nature and emotion? Then how much more so should God Almighty be able to portray for His children, when they get old enough to understand, great truths of His Being and the wonders of His plan for man, and fully prove His existence and authorship through the living insignia He has wrought into those human dramas by means of prophecy – hidden prophecy, that is – which history reveals has come into detailed fulfillment, and is even today in the process of continuous and detailed fulfillment.
That is The Voice of Tomorrow; and the great purpose behind it is to resurrect the Bible from its entombment through interpretation and ceremonialism, that it may become like a living, throbbing reality of today, more than abreast of the times, and an absolute guide unto every person who will receive it; not merely an ordinary and good guide and counselor, but a revealer of such wonderful law and truth that the person who receives it enters into the transformed life for the here and for the now.
It is difficult to reveal a great deal to you in a brief lesson, but if you will faithfully continue in these lessons, you will soon come to know that you have at long last truly found something that you can really start shouting about. It is not an uncommon experience for me to receive a letter from someone stating pointedly that they have learned in that one lesson, or from one book, far more than they have ever learned during the entirety of their previous church life. And you too may do the same through The Voice of Tomorrow, without it necessarily costing you a dime.
If you have your Bible convenient, you may open it to the 4th chapter of Mark's Gospel, where I'm going to quote briefly a few verses which will help you to better understand what I mean by saying that He veiled great truths in living drama. The backdrop to these few verses I am going to read to you consists of the Master Jesus having spoken 8 parables unto the multitudes who had come to the seaside. Jesus was sitting in a large boat immediately off the seashore. So commencing at verse 35, we read,
"And the same day, when the even was come, He saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. And when they had
sent away the multitude, they took Him even as He was in the ship. And there were also with Him other little ships.
And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And He was in the hinder
part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake Him, and say unto Him, Master, carest Thou not that we perish? And He
arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm."
To fully understand this we should read the following chapter, but I cannot take the time, so will briefly mention that after coming out of the ship on the other side, He was met by two demoniacs whom no man could tame, who lived in the tombs. These were possessed by a legion of demons whom Jesus cast out and permitted to enter into a herd of swine feeding nearby, which then rushed down a steep incline and perished in the waters (Matt. 8:28-32).
Now to the average Christian believer, what I have read here is but another account of one of the incidents in the life of the Lord Jesus; and that, to most of them, is all that it amounts to, except perhaps unto some who may marvel at the great power that He was able to manifest. Yet hear The Voice of Tomorrow; behind these little incidents (as we think of them) are hidden mighty truths and aweinspiring prophecies which truly stagger the human mind. Instead of this merely being the narrative of an incident or two in the life of the Master, it embodies so much that a good writer could indeed write a great volume about it. But here we will only touch on some of its main highlights, and that very briefly.
Look with me at the setting. Here, the Son of God, Who had the very Spirit of God, was sitting in a ship gently buoyed on the waves of the Sea of Galilee. By Him all about stood the multitudes on the seashore, and as far back as His voice could be heard, yes, and even further back, where His sayings were relayed by one to another. Now consider carefully: I am going to tell you things you have never heard before, but things which can be clearly demonstrated from the Scripture when we enter into a deep study thereof. The Sea of Galilee is almost a circle, in fact, that is the meaning of the word Galilee: it means `circular.' To further help us understand its meaning, it is spoken of in the Bible as "Galilee of the nations (or Gentiles)" (Isa. 9:1; Matt. 4:15). It was a little province where many Gentiles lived. Therefore, this Sea of Galilee, by its shape and name, symbolizes the entire circuitous area of the whole world; that is, of the inhabited world – the people of this world, the Gentiles. So here we have the Spirit of God portrayed for us in His parabolic speech unto the multitudes of the world, having spoken 8 parables. That is, God is speaking to all of humanity through the parabolic experiences of life. All of us have experiences and we are supposed to learn thereby.
As we study number symbology as it is set forth to us in the Bible (not according to books you find today on numerology, so called), but rather according to the language of God as He has set it forth in the Bible – and the language of God is the language of numbers – we find that the number 8 is the number of regeneration. So here, in the Master's setting this before us, God was depicting how the parabolic experiences of life are supposed to teach us to come out of the gutter, and to lead us away from our play in the pigsties, that we may eventually enter into the regenerate life, and come of age, so to speak, to be unveiled as the sons and the daughters of Jesus Christ.
Now observe His words, "...when the even was come, He saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side" (Mk. 4:35). In those few words are covered for us the sweep of the entire Christian era here depicted by those words "When evening had come." That speaks of the close of the present Christian dispensation. Again, observe carefully that there are two groups represented: one is the vast multitude on the seashore, and the other group is a very, very small group which have followed Him very closely, even intimately every day. Now the first group, that is, the common masses, at the close of the day are sent away, but His faithful and intimate followers are bidden to "cross over unto the other side!" That is the very call that a great number of faithful Christians have for ages awaited, and still await, for the simple reason that the evening of the day has not fully arrived, although it is now very close to hand. And that call to pass over unto the other side is the same as being called out of this world to be with the Lord on the other side of this life in glorified bodies.
But I stress to you, observe carefully: only a very, very small handful, and they the close and intimate followers, were the ones who passed over with the Lord to the other side. Multiplied millions of Christians today kid themselves that they are going to hear that call, because they have been led to believe that through their churches and spiritual leaders. Yet the Bible shows us very clearly that the vast multitudes are going to find themselves on shore – to be sent away, while the small and faithful group hear the call and pass over. Those days are almost upon Christendom when a small and faithful group are going to hear that long awaited call to "pass over unto the other side." As a result, the world at large will be thrown into such a turmoil as it has never known before. There will be such great upheavals that human hearts are going to fail, multitudes will faint, and a great many will die from the shock, because the undeniable facts are really unbelievable.
"...Pass over unto the other side" – how long that call has been awaited! Yet now the "boats" are being readied for the few and faithful. But what grief awaits the multitude – as they are "sent away"! THAT I think of as one of the great tragedies to befall Christendom, and that very soon. The vast multitudes are so certain THEY will be in that number. Yet our Lord said "MANY are the called, but FEW are the chosen" (Matt. 22:14). Even more pointedly did He say that five of the virgins were foolish, having no oil in their lamps by which to go out to meet Him (Matt. 25:1-3). Observe they were all "virgins," and all in the same room: all with the same expectation....
HOW can we evade the conclusion that multitudes will be left, weeping and wailing, begging to get in?
