II Corinthians 4:5-7
"For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, Who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us."
Lesson 15: IS "JESUS" IMPORTANT TO YOUR HEALTH & SUCCESS?
"And thou shalt anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, that they may minister unto Me in the priest's office. And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, This shall be an holy anointing oil unto Me throughout your generations." Exodus 30:30-31
"Samuel also said unto Saul, The LORD sent me to anoint thee to be king over His people, over Israel ." I Samuel 15:1
"The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto Him ye shall hearken. I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put My words in His mouth; and He shall speak unto them all that I shall command Him. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto My words which He shall speak in My Name, I will require it of him." Deuteronomy 18:15,18-19
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me." John 14:6
Good Morning, friends; and truly a good morning it can be to you!
Recently we have been talking about success and happiness – a success and happiness which are the rightful heritage of every son and daughter of Jesus Christ. It is a tremendously great subject, and one to which every person should devote a great deal of time regularly. Where is the one among us who does not want to be successful and happy? Where is the person who does not want to enjoy health and strength and the feeling of surging power throughout the entire being? I say that health, strength, success and happiness are the rightful birthright of every son and daughter of Jesus Christ. Perhaps you would understand me better if I were to say, "the rightful heritage of everyone who has been born into the kingdom of God." In a previous lesson I shared about citizenship in "the kingdom of the heavens," but actually, that is largely synonymous with sonship or daughter-hood to Jesus Christ.
Perhaps some of you would prefer to have me say, "sons and daughters of God." I know that there are those who dislike the Name of Jesus, Whom they think as of a man; although they freely use the word Christ – an expression which can be interpreted to suit one's own fancy, even a figure of speech for their own concept of that which is best for man.
For your information, I use the expression "Christ" only in connection with the Man Jesus of Nazareth, for that is Biblically correct. Our word "Christ" comes from the Greek word which means `oiled' or `anointed.' According to the ordinances laid down through Moses, all kings and high priests were to be anointed; that is, oiled. Therefore, etymologically speaking, they were "christs," that is, anointed persons. That is why David never stretched out his hand against King Saul, even though King Saul was his bitter enemy and sought the life of David. David knew that Saul had been anointed, and that oil of his anointing had been hallowed according to the Mosaic ordinances. Therefore he stood in fear and trembling before that oiled one, refusing to kill him, even though he had more than one good chance to do so.
But according to Moses and the Prophets, there was to come into the world unto the Jewish people a special Messenger Who would not be anointed by man, but become anointed by the Almighty God in heaven. Moses foretold the terrific power and authority which that Man would wield, because He would be anointed by God Almighty. Moses even went so far as to say that because of the supreme authority of that Christ, or the Anointed One by God, whatsoever man or woman would not hear that Anointed One "it would be required of him" (Deut. 18:15,18-19). That means that he would be cut off from the life-covenant given unto Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and their seed.
Moses, and Prophets which followed him, foretold the nature of that Man's ministry, and also the time of His coming unto the Israel people. That is why we read in the Bible that as approaching the time of the birth of Jesus of Nazareth, Jewry was in great expectation (Lk. 2:38, 3:15), for the simple reason that they knew according to the prophecies the time was at hand that the Anointed One by God Almighty should appear in their midst. However, they, even as the people of today, were very carnal; they could only understand a messiah or a deliverer in the terms of their nationhood; that is, a great and mighty deliverer after the fashion of David, and ultimately Solomon – a new David who would lead them forth in battle to vanquish their enemies right and left and to become top-dog of the entire world. Then, thereafter, would he enter into the office of Solomon, so to speak, when there would be a long era of unbroken peace and prosperity.
Because Jesus of Nazareth did not manifest the traits of such a deliverer, the Jewish hierarchy of His day rejected Him. Even His most intimate followers believed the same. That is why Peter rebuked Him when Jesus had told him that He was going up to Jerusalem where He would be taken by the leaders and delivered unto the Gentile power and put to death (Matt. 16:21-22). They could not bear the thought of such a thing happening. With all the intensity of their beings they yearned for a great David to deliver them from the iron heel of Rome and from their every enemy. And in spite of Jesus' clearest declarations, we see that up to the time of the Cross, and even as late as that of Resurrection Sunday, His followers persisted in believing and in hoping that Jesus would suddenly change His tactics, to call the men of Israel with their swords to march against Rome. That is the only understanding we can arrive at from the answer by one of the two on the way to Emmaus when the risen Christ joined them and entered into a conversation. The statement was, "But we had believed that it was He Who would deliver Israel" (Lk. 24:21).
We see, then, that there were many anointed ones, yet only one to become the Supreme One being anointed by God instead of by man. He would be the Messiah of Israel and the Savior of the world.
Without hesitation, and in the clearest, most emphatic language, I state boldly, "Jesus of Nazareth was that Anointed One by God Almighty." The prophecies of old prove it. The parables of Jesus analyze to prophecy, which has been fulfilled by history and is fulfilling today. That constitutes the insignia of God Almighty as manifest through Jesus of Nazareth. Also, every recorded miracle performed by Jesus of Nazareth reduces to marvelous prophecy, which recorded history verifies, and which we also see fulfilling under our very noses today. That constitutes the third proof that Jesus the Nazarene was that Anointed One by God Almighty. For it is utterly inconceivable that ordinary man, no matter how smart he might have been, could speak what appeared to be casual parables, and perform miracles which were construed as just plain magic, and yet when we apply the spirit-key unto understanding, these parables and miracles shine forth in the glory of mighty and detailed prophecies of the eras then unborn – prophecies with time-measures which are even fulfilling in our very day. One of these I have already detailed in these lessons. You may send in to get the booklet Lazarus, Come Forth!. But may I add that all of the other miracles performed by Jesus of Nazareth, Who was the Christ of God, also reduce to marvelous and detailed prophecy. That is why I know that He was that very Christ of God.
Therefore, whenever I speak of the Christ, you may know that I speak of Jesus the Nazarene, Who was the Christ of God. And to any misguided ones, I warn: remember the words of the great Moses, even the ominous words of Moses the deliverer, who, by the Spirit of God, said that whosoever would not hear that Prophet, speaking of their Messiah to come, would be cut off by the hand of God Almighty. That cutting off referred to being severed from the life-covenant, or disinherited from the promises of God. And the selfsame truth did Jesus of Nazareth declare in His saying that "no one comes to the Father except through Me" (Jn. 14:6 NIB).
This is a great mystery not understood by our priesthoods as yet, and it is scoffed at by the learned ones of our day and by hundreds of wouldbe teachers who use the expression "Christ" in a figurative sense, but openly repudiate any power unto man's preservation through the man Jesus. But with the authority of God Almighty behind me, I make the bold statement that the word "Christ" becomes meaningless and deceiving if we separate it from Jesus the Nazarene. I can prove that statement in at least 100 different ways. I can prove it in such a manner that it becomes utterly impossible to repudiate.
Do I hear some of you saying, "I thought we were supposed to learn something about health, success and happiness, instead of about Jesus the Nazarene?" So, may I remind you that there is no lasting health, success and happiness without your complete acceptance of Jesus the Nazarene, as the Messiah of God. That is why I say that health, success and happiness constitute the birthright of the sons and daughters of Jesus Christ!
You may be fortunate enough to have been rightly brought up on wholesome food and a well-balanced diet; you may have lived right, and you may be enjoying health for a period of time. But I stated, lasting health, by which I mean not just good health after a fashion for 10, 20, 50, or even 70 to 80 years, but for 100 years and for 200 years. Did I say 200 years? Yes indeed, I said 200 years, and mean it. I state in the plainest words at my command, that our priesthoods have as yet scarcely more than scratched the surface of God's marvelous truth. Our doctors of today know next to nothing about the real source of health; they only deal with surface conditions.
The wisdom of God planned the human body, and the artist-hand of God Almighty fashioned and perfected that marvelous mechanism known as the human body: it is the masterpiece of God's handiwork. It was designed by God to function perfectly throughout thousands of years! And I state emphatically that when man comes into the understanding of the teachings of Jesus the Nazarene, Who was the Messiah of God, and commences to live that Truth, the Truth of very God, then does he enter into the kingdom of God here and now, and becomes what we might term "reborn" as a son of Jesus Christ, or a daughter of our Lord and Redeemer. Whereupon, the person commences to enter into the health and the strength of a child of the Son of God; and that measure of health and strength is not limited to 50, 60 or 70 years; no, it isn't limited to even 100 years, but carries on and on and on until the "temple of God" becomes fully glorified through a complete transmutation of all the body cells, and launched onto a higher plain of existence!
When I speak of success, I do not necessarily mean a big bank account; indeed, it could be a fantastically big bank account, but I say, not necessarily. Children of normally successful people have all that they want to eat, they have all the clothes that they need to wear, and they have liberty and they have fun. That fun for them is success and happiness. Similarly with the children of Jesus Christ; they have all they need to eat, they have all the clothes that they require to wear, and they have a joy which cannot be suppressed. That is success and happiness. If, then, the person has the talent to amass a fortune in the terms of money, that does not add to his success. It is only a manifestation of genius.
The scant knowledge and appalling misinformation extant today as pertains to being healthy, is but a small portion of the secret of being perpetually at ease and healthy. Our best doctors know much, but there are depths of understanding which as yet they have not probed, nor ever will unless and until they have been born into the Kingdom of Jesus Christ for the here and for the now.
IF you want health, you should learn the fullness of the governing laws.
And as to success and happiness, THAT is the natural possession of every true citizen of the Kingdom of God here on earth (right now). But as SPIRIT is 100fold more illusive than matter, so are the laws pertaining to success and happiness many-fold more important and illusive than the laws governing health. As the requirements unto perpetually sound health call for far more than plenty to eat, so similarly do the Spirit-laws governing success and happiness in the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, call for immensely more than merely paying one's bills and staying out of jail. Yes indeed, there are LAWS pertaining thereto concerning which the Christian of today hasn't even heard the faintest whisper. Yet when once we learn and have come to spiritual understanding, THEN do we find these laws of the Kingdom simple and a great JOY to live.
Little by little I plan to set these laws before you – to the end that all who faithfully consider them may come into perpetual rejoicing.
Law-abiding citizens never get into trouble.
