II Corinthians 4:5-7

"For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, Who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us."

"And unto Adam He said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life." Genesis 3:17

What is "human nature"? I suppose that various members of the intelligentsia might agree in substance but word the answer variously. It is that which people are wont to manifest under given circumstances, and under the entire range of human experience: it is how we react to all of these circumstances and impinging conditions.

"...They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." Mark 2:17

It could grant much sweet satisfaction to look back over a life – almost perfect. But 'twas for "sinners" our Lord went to Calvary.

"CALL unto Me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not." Jeremiah 33:3

Here I have a special word unto many of you. ...Did He say you might call to Him IF you had lived perfectly in His sight? Providing you had ever been strong and upright, and made the right decisions? Placing God ever first? NO! there are none such qualifications. God is a LOVING Father: He knows how little children will blunder, and stumble. HE asks that you "call unto Him," then "will He answer you" – even as the earthly father his little child in trouble.

"...It is manna...This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat." Exodus 16:15

Israel of old in the wilderness wondered what they were to eat: God gave them "bread from heaven." With this they were not satisfied so they hungered for ordinary meat that they might gorge to their fill. In abundance was it waiting for them, even fresh and "on the wing" dropping down so soon as they asked for it!

These mighty miracles of old actually did take place! God wanted to set the pattern: to paint for us in living drama that which He has prepared for those who love Him even in our here and now! Such is the nature of the covenant He gave unto those who would follow Him.
