II Corinthians 4:5-7

"For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, Who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us."

"...Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?" Isaiah 45:9

IF – said He – someone desires to "come after Him" (He went away into the Heavenlies and into His Father's Presence), then that is not to be achieved through self-indulgence and the squawking at every little pressure. But rather to daily recognize the "WEIGHT" of the Cross as being a steadying and corrective pressure, DISCIPLINING us into His Presence. Yet the way of the Christian today is to berate his "misfortune and bad luck" (most of which he has brought on to himself); while if there be a painful twitch in his left little toe, he dashes away to the doctor, hoping that the symptom may be drugged out (lest he be forced to modify his indulgent life-style).
