II Corinthians 4:5-7
"For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, Who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us."
January 17th
"...I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10
We look to the One Who left the Throne of Glory to "lay down His life for the sheep" – that we might "have life and have it more abundantly." Behold Him! When we look to the face which spared not itself from pain, from spitting and shame; when we gaze on the back furrowed deep with the lash, and the flesh tearing wide for the weight on the piercing spikes, THEN can we grasp – in a measure – that LOVE which drove Him to the cross – NOT to save an especially chosen people (they rejected His sacrifice), but rather for the entire world steeped in the grossness of sin – even for you and for me....
