"...This is the work of God, that ye believe into Him Whom He has sent." John 6:29

That is at least a lifetime's undertaking! To merely get convinced that Jesus of Nazareth was the incarnate Son of God, Who came to earth for man's redemption, yes, even for that particular individual who is getting acquainted with the fact, may be achieved in very little time. When whosoever arrives at that conclusion, truly believing it within, then instantaneously takes place the new birth of which our Lord spoke to Nicodemus at night. Accepting by faith that one isolated fact, can come very early in the life of some people. That becomes much the same as commonly expressed: "believing on the Name of Jesus." But believing into Him (as is the more correct expression of the Greek eis), becomes that lifetime undertaking which I referred to. For on another occasion Christ our Lord stated it very clearly that "He that believes into Me, the works that I do shall he do also and greater that these shall he do because I go unto My Father" (Jn. 14:12).

Was Jesus merely giving them a sales line? If you know Him, even in a little measure, then you also know that His every word was absolute truth. Wherefore, when we survey the multiplied millions of Christians, including all of the clergy, the evangelists, the priests and the higher-ups, and we fail to find as much as one who does the works that Jesus did, to say nothing of "greater works," then we know that as up into this day, there has not been, neither is there one (known to the world) who has "believed into Jesus Christ"!
