II Corinthians 4:5-7
"For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, Who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us."

"And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And He was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow...." Mark 4:37-38
Yet let us PROBE . WHY, or WHAT permitted the Master to fall asleep on a pillow in the stern of the boat? Wasn't there even one to talk to Him – while they set out across a calm sea? No, NOT ONE! Except on rare occasions when the weight of the moment or the matter prodded, "they DARED NOT ASK"! (See Mk. 12:34, Lk. 20:40.)
In our language they were "scared stiff" of Him! A snoring clergy has painted dream-stuff of an effeminate Master drooling with "love." But asleep ("while men SLEPT") they cannot discern Him. Therefore this "NIGHT." Because they dreaded His answers which stung and showed them full of error – HE WAS LEFT ALONE TO GO TO SLEEP while they loafed on the oars and chatted among themselves!
THAT is the picture of the individual Christian today – as well as the nations of Christendom!
