II Corinthians 4:5-7
"For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, Who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us."
August 22nd
"Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come." I Corinthians 10:11
Now we are back to the great Stumbling Block, which has tripped up Christendom. It is Jesus Christ Himself, even His colossal greatness! It is the same story as it was in the life of Abram who went down into Egypt, and of Jacob who went down into Egypt: God had promised to bless them in Canaan, but His Word seemed too wonderful. They just couldn't believe it completely; so, when trouble came, off they went to Egypt. All of these episodes have been related to us in detail for our good, in order that we might come to understanding through the errors of those who have gone before us, and with whom God worked in such a way, that their lives might talk to us.
The promises unto Abram and his seed are even God's promises unto you and me – the end time children of Israel as the spiritual seed of Abram. Hear the words of God Almighty unto His servant Abram,
"Fear not Abram, I am thy shield, and exceeding great reward." Genesis 15:1
