II Corinthians 4:5-7

"For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, Who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us."

"Be glad in the LORD, and rejoice, ye righteous: and shout for joy, all ye that are upright in heart." Psalm 32:11

8: This is the number of regeneration. It is all right to speak of resurrection, but that is future and therefore of questionable value to the believing Christian of today. But regeneration is for human beings today, human beings with bodies of flesh, of bone, of blood. God is well aware of man's carnality and weaknesses, and He has the patience and the time to wait and to deal with this problem. But make no mistake about it: an absolute regeneration is the ultimate objective which God has in mind for man.

I would like to think that my every past student, yes, even my every reader, is an unusually happy, even an exuberantly joyous person. I personally have been in that category throughout a long time. Yes, I realize that the mature Christian of today may have peace of mind and experiences a measure of joy. But joy, even as other matters, can be measured in degree. I have found that the degree of my perpetual joy increases from time to time. In John 15:11 we read: "These matters have I declared to you to the end that My joy might live in you so that your joy might overspill!" (M.D.'s rendering.)
