II Corinthians 4:5-7

"For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, Who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us."

"That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word." Ephesians 5:26

I recall my childhood's home. Often and repeatedly while relaxing after a dinner, our parents would reminisce about the more distant past. They would recall the case of John or Mary: how his thieving landed him in jail and the semi-ruination of his life; how Mary slept away from home one night, and bore the shame of her sin throughout her remaining days. Nearly every gamut of life was touched upon as they conversed with one another. We kids only LISTENED. Yet those words of their reminiscing built up within us something: a sort of STANDARD. It worked. Not one of us five brethren ever went into crime nor a worthless life; neither any of us ever responsible for a bastard; none of us ever a VD victim.

If the "water" of the parents' word can do that much for their offspring: what of the Water of God's Word?
